Crime is happening in every society. In India, serious crimes like murder, rape, kidnapping and abduction have increased in recent times. The situation is alarming and posing serious challenge to the law enforcement agencies. It is very important for policy makers and law enforcement agencies to know the pattern, status, rate and other details about the crime pan India to evolve a strong strategy to counter the situation. It is in this background that the present paper proposes to undertake crime analysis of States and Union Territories of India.
