Public transit service in India has been one of the major driving factors in steering the economy of the country. Despite the prominence of the public transit services, the public transit has constantly been one of the major loss incurring public serving units with high incidental costs. With ever- increasing population and lapses in filling the needed infrastructure for road transport, such as provision of public transit services and the last mile connectivity to the people, there is a need to strategize both funding and operations in Public transport. This study aims to find out the major loss incurring depots through identifying the trends of both revenue and expenditure in the Public transit of Hyderabad region i.e. 28 depots. The major outcome of the study is to reduce the losses by optimizing the financial performance of the depots and increasing the efficiency of the operated routes by making optimal changes in the frequency of the routes and necessary route modifications. These proposed changes are centered on the temporal occupancy rates of the serviced routes and financial performance of various services operated in each depot.
