Livelihood by self-feminihood: A case study of Nuh district Haryana

NRLM is the world’s largest programme for women empowerment and poverty alleviation in rural area. It has been launched on 3 June 2011 in Banswara district of Rajasthan and it was implemented in 2013 all over the country. This programme is based on self-help group concept. Therefore, all the members in the group are from similar economic and social backgrounds who have one goal to improve their economic status. The main purpose of the study is to know about the income generations activities of the members of self-help group and also to know about whether these activities are helpful in increasing their income. The problem faced by group members while availing loan is also considered in this article. In this article, it has also been examined what type of changes they realise in their soft skills. It was found that two-thirds of respondents started their income generations activities and most of the respondent allied on agriculture and animal husbandry activities. There has been an overwhelming change in their soft skills of the respondent, women are cheerful to see this change in themselves.
