Assessment of Knowledge Level of the Cole Crops Growers with Respect to Cole Crops Production Technology

The present study was carried out during the year 2005–06 in Meerut district of western Uttar Pradesh to know knowledge level of the cole crops growers with respect to Cole Crops production technology. It was observed that most of the cole crops growers were having high knowledge about the selection and preparation of main field (47.50 per cent) in case of nursery preparation, while irrigation management (57.50 per cent), inter culture practices (71.50 per cent), inter cropping (70.00 per cent) and judging of ripening of vegetable (62.50 per cent) knowledge in the crop production technology. Most of the Cole crops growers were having medium knowledge level about the seed rate (83.75 per cent), raising nursery (56.25 per cent), mannure & fertilizers application (67.50 per cent), irrigation management (55.00 per cent) and transplanting (51.25 per cent) in case of preparation of nursery, application of organic manure (65.00 per cent), disease control (41.25 per cent), insect & pest control (56.25 per cent) in case of crops production technology and most of the cole crops growers were having medium knowledge level about the grading (61.25 per cent), packing (43.75 per cent) and marketing (41.25 per cent) in case of the post harvesting technology of cole crops production. Most of the cole crops growers were having low knowledge level about the improved varieties (51.25 per cent), seed and soil treatment (80.00 per cent) and plant protection management (48.7 per cent) In case of preparation of nursery, balance fertilizers application (n.50 per cent), bio fertilizers application (n.50 per cent), blo fertilizers application (97.50 per cent), application of plant growth regulator (90.00 per cent) In cole crops production and storage of vegetable (91.25 per cent) in post harvesting technology. This study reveals vast variation among the cole crops growers knowledge level therefore, investigator refers to provide trainings, demonstration and farm adviSOry services to the cole crops growers.
