Abstract

The positon of rice bunt disease occurrence recorded from 85 seed samples of 12 varieties collected from Kanpur, Bareilly, Rampur and Meerut seed Processing plants was found that MTU-7029 and Pusa Basmati varieties remained free from infection in all the regions while Kranti and Sarju-52 were found most infected with rice bunt disease in all the above four regions of U.P. Rest of the eight varieties were of intermittent nature against rice bunt disease occurrence. Though, environment plays an important role in causing and spreading rice bunt disease but it could not be established true in these studies becasue none of the variety could show such type of nature of disease occurrence among the four regions. Most severe infection was recorded in Kranti of Kanpur region and Sarju-52 varieties, while least infected seed samples were found in Bareilly region.
