Effect of Nutrition Intake on Milk Production in Goats

A four month study was carried out in the three blocks of Faizabad District in Uttar Pradesh to asses the effect of nutrient intake on milk production in goat of the different land holding size of the farmers i.e., land less, marginal, small and large. The total number of farmers was 180 with 284 goats i.e., 137, 39, 82 and 26 in each land holding groups, respectively in all three blocks. The average milk production was 0.00, 0.25, 049 and 0.88 kg per day per goat in all the four categories of farmers. The average nutrient intakes were 0.850, 0.932, 0.946 and 0.987 kg per goat for dry matter while intake of DCP were 0.037, 0.039, 0.042 and 0.042 kg per day per goat in all the land holding groups. The TDN intake were 0.530, 0.554, 0.613 and 0.617 kg per day per goat in landless, marginal, small and large groups, respectively. The landless groups had no milk because of they kept goats only for meat purpose. On the other hand, in large group milk production was significantly higher than that of other groups.
