Abstract

The Materials consisted by 28 F1s developed through diatiel technique excluding reciprocals along with Eight parents. These were grown in randomized block design with three replications at Department of Vegetable science. C.S.A.U.A.T., Kalyanpur, Kanpur during Zaid, 2004. The data were recorded on competitive but randomly taken ten plants in parents and F1s for 10 quantitative traits viz. days to flowering, height of plant (cm), number of node per plant, number of first fruiting node, length of intemode (cm), length of fruit (cm), width of fruit (cm), tapering length of fruit (cm), number of fruit per plant and yield per plant (g). The study revealed that the parent KS-410, Pusa Sawani, KS-305 and KS-312 were found superior and desirable general combiners for yield and yield contributing traits. However, the cross com KS-410 x Pusa Sawani KS-410 x KS-305, KS-410 x BO-2, Pusa Sawani x IIHR-4 and KS-410 x Arka Anamika were found to be significantly Superior specific combiner for yield and yield contributing traits.
