Genetic components of variance were estimated in F1 generation of Indian mustard derived from 7 parents diallel cross (excluding reciprocals) for eight traits namely, days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, no. of primary branches, length of main racem, seed yield/plant, 1000-seed weight and oil content. The analysis of variance reveald highly significant differences among parents and F1 crosses for almost all the characters except length of main raceme, seed yield/plant and oil content. The interactions between parents and F1s were also significant for all the traits except seed yield/plant and oil content. Different genetic components namely 0, H1, H2, F, h2 & E and related parameters were estimated and observed the dominance components (H1 and H2) were higher than additive component (D) in F1 generation. The value of F was found positive in F1 generation except days to maturity, plant height and length of main raceme. The ration between total dominant to recessive genes (except days to maturity, plant height and 1000-seed weight) revealed that dominant genes were more prevalent than recessive genes for all characters. The proportion of genes with postive and negative effects (H2/4H1) were less the value 0.25 in F1 generation for all the characters except no. of primary braches. The degree of dominance (H1D) 0.5 were high for no. of primary branches length of main raceme and seed yield/plant.
