A diallel study carried out with 21 treatment (15F1 sand 6 parents) during 2003–04 at department of Vegetable Science, C.S. Azad Univ. of Agri. & Tech., Kanpur. Six parents were used via., PS, P-7, AB-2, BO-2, AB-1 and PK. The study was based on ten characters namely days to flowering, height of plant (cm), number of branches per plant, number of first inter node (cm), length of fruit (cm), width of fruit (cm), number of fruits per plant, yield per plant (g). High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was observed for number of branches per plant and yield per plant indicating that most likely the hertability is due to additive gene effects and selection may be effective. High heritabiiity coupled with moderate genetic additive was observed for day to flowering indicating additive generation and selection may be effective. Low heritability coupled with low genetic advance was observed for number of nodes per plant indicating high degree of environmental effect here selection would be in effective.
