Abstract

Field investigation was undertaken during 2002 and 2003 to study the efect of phosphorus and Rhizobium inoculation on french bean cultivars at Horticulture research farm, C.C.R. (P.G.) College, Muzaffarnagar. The treatments consisting four phosphorus levels viz. 0, 30, 60 and 90 kg/ha, Rhizobium inoculation viz. uninoculation and inoculated and three cultivars viz. A Komal, Contender and P. Parvati. Plant height, number of branch, dry matter production per plant, number of nodules, number of pod and green pod yield increased with successive increase in phosphorus level, whereas days to 50% flowering decreased significantly with phosphorus level increase. Maximum limit of growth and yield attributes was recorded with 90 kg/ha application. Significant increased in growth and yield attributes was recorded with Rhizobium inoculation. Maximum plant height, no. of branch, dry matter production, and pod length was recorded in cv. A. Kormal and minimum days to 50% flowering was also recorded in cv. A. Komal. Maximum no. of pod and green pod yield was recorded woth cv. Contender.
