Abstract

The experiment was conducted in randomized block design with three replications during zaid season 2002. The experimental material compared of thirty strains of long melon (curcumis melo var. utilissimus) were studied for correlation and path analysis the genotypic and phenotypic correlation coefficients were worked out to measure the association among nine quantitative traits. The calculated values of genotypic correlation coefficients were higher than phenotypic correlation coefficients for most of the traits. Yield per plant had the positive and significant correlation with days to flower and highly significant association also observed number of nodes per vine width of fruit length of fruit, and number of fruit per plant. Path coefficient analysis revealed that number of fruits per plant and width of fruit showed maximum positive direct effect on yield per plant indicating that these characters may be given due weightage while making selections per crop yield improvements.
