The present study was conducted in 1997–98 in two tehsils ie. Sambbal and Chandausi of Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The purpose of study was to know about socio economic characteristics of mint growers of the area. In the study, major characters like age group, level of education, caste structure, type of family, size of family, source of irrigations and annual income of mint growers were observed. The farmers of middle age groups belonging to backward caste were very keen to adopt mint cultivation. Majority of mint growers residing in a joint family systems having more than 5 members In a family. In the district, tube-well was the man source of irrigation implied by the mint growers and belonging to the income group of Rs. 10,000 -20,000/- annum.
