Abstract

To study the physiological effect of growth regulators on Indian mustard, field experiments were carried out at Research Farm Nawabganj, Kanpur to three growth regulators -cycocel, Alar and AbA were applied under the two irrigation conditions. (11 irrigated, two irrigations), (12 unirrigated, No irrigation). At all the stages leaf/plant were more in irrigated set than unirrigated one. Alar 300 ppm was better in irrigated set, whereas Cycocel 1000 ppm produced more leaves under dry set. All the growth regulators except AbA 20 and 30 ppm increased leaf area under both the treated sets. Alar under irrigated and cycocel under dry set produced maximum number of branches over control. the growth regulators decreased the inflorescence length thus reducing the distance between source and sink. The reduction was maximum in Alar than Cycocel and AbA. In care of RGR of leaf there was general reduction during second period, but in case of cycocel the decline was less marked.

All the growth regulators in all the concentrations influeced yield and its attributes. Except AbA 20 and 30 ppm ali the growth regulators increased yield and its components under irrigated condftions. Alar 300 ppm in this set produced maximum yield. Only cycocel 1000 ppm cmd Alar 300 ppm produced the yield and its attributes near about irrigated control in unirrigated condition.
