Manganese is essential micronutrient for the growth of seedling and metabolism of higher plants. As a trace element it regulates the development and growth and is not replaced by any other element in its function. The studies on pretreatment of seeds with different concentrations of Manganese the germinations and seedling growth of Cucumis Melo CV. Punjab hybrid seedling in dark. There is general inhibition (at all higher concentration) and promotion at the lower concentration i.e. 1 and 10 ppm) of germination and seedling growth of cucurbits. Out of certain factor responsible for the reduced growth in the presence of higher Manganese concentration is increased uptake of heavy metals which portably interfere with the growth mechanism. Organ specific crop based on differences in response to manganese concentration was observed in present studies.
