The present investigation was carried as field experiment which was conducted at Agronomy Research Area of the Department of Agronomy, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar (India). The experimental field was dominated by Phalaris minor, Melilotus indica, Rumex retroflexus, Anagallis arvensis, Lathyrus abhaca and Chenopodium album during both the years. Application of sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron-methyl reduced the dry matter accumulation in all the weeds upto 100% when applied @ 40g ha −1 at 60 DAS during both the years. Decreased microbial population (total bacteria, fungi and Azotobacter) was observed in sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron-methyl treated plotsjust after application of herbicide. From the present studies, it can be concluded that sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron-methyl can be applied @ 40 g ha −1 for excellent control of complex weed flora in wheat.
