Abstract

The investigation was conducted during winter season of 2005–06 and 2006–07 at the Agronomy Research Area of the Department of Agronomy, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar (India). The growth parameters like plant height and dry matter accumulation ofwheat at 30, 60 and 90 DAS and at harvest were significantly higher with the application ofsulfosulfuron + metsulfuron @ 40g ha-1 as compared to weedy check. Similarly, various yield attributes(viz. No. of spike m2, spike length, number of grains per spike and 1000 grain weight), yields (grain andstraw) of wheat were also significantly higher at 40 g ha-1 as compared to weedy check. Maximum grain(5509 kg ha-1 in 2005–06 and 5674 kg ha-1 in 2006–07) and straw (6943 kg ha-1 in 2005–06 and 7097 kgha-1 in 2006–07) yields were obtained under @ 40 g ha-1 of sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron-methyl.
