Phenol and its hydroxy derivatives, viz., Resorcinol, Hydroquirone, Pyrogallol and Phloroglucinol, were evaluated for their efficacy on germination and germ-tube length of conidia of Aspergillus parasiticus (spear); in vitro. The investigations revealed that these phenolic compounds significantly inhibited the germination and germ-tube length of the conidia of the fungus. With the increasing levels of concentration of Phenol and its derivatives, there was increase in percent inhibition of germination and percent reduction in germ-tube length of the conidia. However, less lnhibition of conidial germination and germ-tube length was observed with increasing period of incubation. Hydroquinone was found best followed by resorcinol, Pyrogallol and phloroglucinol.
