Evaluation of indigenous and exotic tall and dwarf coconut genotypes for quality tender coconut water trade

Totally eight genotypes (5 Tall and 3 Dwarf) were subjected for their fresh and post harvest tendernut quality parameters. Physical, bio-chemical, mineral composition, months to harvest for exact maturity stage of tender nut and laboratory analysis of post harvest quality parameters of eight genotypes viz., ECT, WCT, TT, CC, Zanzibar and three dwarf COD,:MYD and MOD were studied. Fruits were harvested at three different stages (5, 6 and 7^th month of maturity) results revealed that the 6 months old tendernut accumulated more volume of water with high quality parameters like potassium, sodium and reducing sugars. Regarding the post harvest characters, the keeping quality of the tendernut water without disturbing the nutrient content, flavor and quality parameters was good until 2^nd day after harvest, after the quality parameters were drastically reduced.
