Plants are the most important source of medicine obtained naturally to cure various diseases. The survey of ethnobotanical plants was conducted during the month of July and August 2017 in BR Hills, Chamarajanagar district. Information was gathered among the soliga tribal communities, local practitioners, village seniors, tribal doctor and traditional healers. The present work focuses on the investigation of traditional ayurvedic practices by soliga tribes, identification of medicinal plants, family, medicinal importance and parts used. About 130 different types of medicinal plants belonging to 60 families in which 4 species are endangered and 3 are threatened, out of these 43(38%) tree, 41(32%) herb, 36(25%) shrub and 10(5%) climbers were documented. More priority is given to these medicinal plants to treat disease. Due to over exploitation there is a need to conserve by plant tissue culture technique and to introduce the traditional system of medicine to the new generation. Local people is well versed with theuse of natural resources without any side effects available in their surroundings and this knowledge is shared to new coming generations in future.
