Abstract

An experiment entitled “Effect of crop establishment methods and nutrient management on soil health and productivity of basmati rice (Oryza sativa L) ”was conducted at Nawabganj farm, College of Agriculture, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology Kanpur (U.P.) in Kharif season for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016) in irrigated condition. The soil of the experimental field was loamy in texture alkaline in nature having pH (8.20 and 8.30), EC (0.22 and 0.21 dsm-1), medium in organic carbon, low in available nitrogen, Zinc, medium in phosphorus and potash. The experiment was conducted in Split Plot Design (SPD) with three replications and twelve treatments combination. The main plot was consisting of two establishment method (transplanting and aerobic rice) and sub plot consisting of six nutrient management treatments (control, 100% RDF (NPK), 100% RDF + Zn, 75% RDF + 25% through organic manure, 50% RDF + 50% through organic manure and 100% RDF through organic manure). Scented rice variety Pusa Basmati-1509 was transplanted with the recommended agronomic practices. It may be concluded from the present investigation that for sustainable production of good quality Pusa basmati-1509 rice and maintained soil health, transplanted method of cultivation with application of 75% RDF + 25% through organic manure may be advocate for farmers of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
