Abstract

Laboratory and field experiments were carried out to study the effect of root knot nematodes and the growth of chickpea, by Pseudomonas fluorescens which is having high antagonistic and plant growth promoting potential. Effect of Pseudomonas fluorescens improved plant health and root colonization. It fovoured maximum development, minimum wilt incidence, minimum root knot formation and persistence of the inoculum. Under field conditions, Pseudomonas fluorescens was evaluated at different concentration (100, 200 and 300 g/20kg) of seed application. The maximum yield of 748.8 grams was found in Seed treatment @ J300g/20kg. Root knot nematode infestation were recorded minimum (5.4% and 7.2%.) when seeds were treated with Pseudomonas fluorescens @ 300g/20kg respectively. Maximum root weight (1.62g) was recorded when seeds treated @300g/20kg at 90 days after sowing followed by (1.38g) and (1.36g) when seeds were treated @200g/20kg, 100g/20kg at 90 days after sowing.
