Causative factors and opinions of child labour in mahabubnagar district of andhra pradesh

It is believed that a child has all the potentialities which if properly developed, will make him into a better man for any walk of life. The individual differences among the grown-up people is the result of the environment in which they are groomed. Keeping in view the objective of finding the Causative factors and Opinions of Child labour in Mahabubnagar District of Andhra Pradesh, a Descriptive research design was used for conducting the study. It was found that the ‘economic factors ’played a major role in drawing the children into the labour force as the family income was insufficient to make the both ends meet. Among the ‘social factors ’, ‘family factors ’and ‘educational factors ’, their sub-factors like peer influence, large family size and far away location of school respectively have influenced both girls and boys in taking up employment. Most of the girls and boys opined that they do not mind being labourers and they earn for assisting their family and self and wanted to lead an independent life Most of them could not respond when asked for their opinion on taking up employment by children. But some of them have opined that child's development is deteriorated if he/she works and education is important than working. Nevertheless few of them opined that it is better to work than sitting idle and few others expressed that children should not work inspite of the family and other responsibilities. Most of the child labourers were not utilising the facilities provided by the rehabilitation centres because they were not interested in joining the centres and there was compulsion to work from their parents.
