Bacopa monnieri, renowned for cognitive-enhancing effects as memory vitalizer, also plays a significant role against cardiac, respiratory and neuropharmacological disorders. However, its neuroprotective nature for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and anti-cancer activity like human colon, breast and lung cancer property, which is explored in last two decades, can be a probable breakthrough in the world of medicine. Alzheimer's, Parkinson's diseases are incurable till date. Due to this, natural population of the herb is overexploited by various pharmacopeias. The experiment compares two explants node and leaf to obtain increased plant material for pharmaceutical industry in cost effective manner in terms of various growth parameters. The maximum number of shoots per explant (node) was obtained on MS (Murashige and Skoog) fortified with 1.0 mg. L-1 BA (N6-Benzyl amino purine) and 0.5 mg. L-1 NAA (Naphthalene acetic acid) while for leaf explants the best media was 1.0 mg. L-1BA alone. Highest shoot length for node as well as leaf explants was noticed on MS containing 0.5 mg. L-1BA. 1.0 mg. L-1 BA and 0.5 mg. L-1 BA proved excellent for maximum number of propagules from node and leaf explants respectively.
