Socio-economic profile of paddy growers regarding adoption level of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices

The present study carried out during 2010–2011 in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh to focused on the socio-economic profile of paddy growers regarding adoption level of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices. 80 contact farmers were selected as respondents. The independents variables such as age, caste and educations were measured by the scale of Trivedi (1963) and type of family, size of family, land holding, live-stock position, institutional membership, electricity connection, communication sources and transport facility are also measured by direct questioning. The study revealed that majority of the respondents were belonging to medium age group (31–50 years) followed by old age group (above 50 years) and mostly they were belonging to other backward caste, their educational level were up to Intermediate and maximum respondents were married and living jointly. Most of the respondents were not member of any formal or informal organization, their land holding size were small, they were using radio/television for obtaining information related to agriculture and allied sectors. Maximum respondents were having electricity connection at home and mostly transport facility having two wheeler like cycle and motor cycle/scooter.
