Abstract

During kharif 2007 a field trial was conducted at farmers field at Pilibhit to evaluate efficacy of certain novel insecticides viz., cartap hydrochloride 4G, cartap hydrochloride 50SP, fipronil 0.3 GR,, fipronil 5 SC, profenofos 50 EC, lambda-cyhalothrin 5 EC, biopesticide viz., B t and botanical viz., Neemarin, against rice leaf-folder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Guenee). All insecticides effectively controlled leaf-folder and increased grain yield over control. The fipronil 5 SC was found to be best in controlling the leaf-folder as well as economically, followed by cartap hydrochloride 50 SP and lambda cyhalothrin 5 EC, respectively.
