An experiment was conducted to estimate nature and magnitude of heterosis for grain yield and yield related traits in a diallel cross of eleven genetically diverse wheat genotypes excluding reciprocals. The range of heterosis and heterobeltiosis for grain yield/plant was from – 57.6 (Pavon 76/K 9107) to 19.90 (HP 1633/Bagula) and from – 59.62 (Pavon 76/K 9107) to 14.35 (HP 1633/HD 2285), respectively. Crosses HP 1633/HD 2285 and HP 1633/Bagula showed significant desirable heterosis and heterobeltiosis for grain yield and almost all the yield component traits. These crosses can be used in developing high yielding cultivar either by selecting transgressive segregants in late segregating generations or by using these as parents in hybrid development programme.
