Estimation of fish catch function of fishing community in Allahabad (U.P.) India

Abstract

It can be observed, uniformly noted that fish employment appears to be most important factor significantly explaining to total amount of fish catch. The other factors tike family size and assets were not found to be affection the fish catch significantly. The estimated co-efficient of fish employment in on season was found highest in compression to off season fish catch. The estimated co-efficient explains that when we will increase the fishing employment by one man days the magnitude of fish catch will increase by 30Kg in over all, 26 Kg, in on season and 35 Kg, in off season, respectively. The similar finding was reported, that the estimated co-efficient of fishing employment in may days was found to highest for off season in comparison to on season fish catches that was 1.83, meaning there by when we will increase the fishing employment by one mayday the magnitude of fish catch will increase by 1.83 percent in off season. This shows that the fish catch in river Ganga is highly responsive to the magnitude of fish efforts put into the co-efficient of family size and value of assets were found to be non- significant.
