Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at Chandra Shekhar Azad University or Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur during three crop seasons (1997-98 to 1999-2000) to evaluate the contrubution of different inputs used in chickpea production. Improved variety (KWR-108) sown in rows at 30 cm apart contributed 3-73 a/ha or 24-58% mor grain yield over local variety sown by broadcast method. Application of 15 kg N and 40 kg P2O5/IW separately enhanced grain yield by 5-10 q/ha (26-98*) and 4-02 q/ha (21-27%), respectively while combined use of 15 kgN + 40kgP2O5 produced ?.!0 q/ha (48 15%) higher grain yield over without use of fertilizer. Use of plant protection measures contributed grain yield by 5-56q/ha (29-42%) in combination while weed control and control of pod borer separately gave 4-45/qha (23-54%) and 4-66q/ha (24-66%) Uglier production. Iwo irrigation in crop contributed 5-81q/ha (30-71%) more grain yield, The seed inoculation by Rbizobium culture and sowing in North-South direction improved grain yield by 2-73 q/ha (14-44%) and 3 10 q/ha (16-40%) respectively.
