Socio-cultural dimensions in Alwar district sub-region of NCR

Delhi, the national capital, has been growing at a tremendous pace during post post-independence period. The major factor behind this was the attraction of capital city where a lot of economic activities were coming such as industries, services, transport, commercial establishment, constructions and other different sectors. Delhi also has a developed infrastructure where entrepreneurs have great likings for investments and establishing their units and offices. The study area comprises six tehsils of Alwar district namely Alwar, Ramgarh, Behror, Mandawar, Kishangarh, and Tijara covering an area of 4493 sq. km and population of 18.33 lakh in 2001. The sub-region has a variety of physical features consisting of Aravalli hills, plains, and plateau and rocky land. The soil is quite fertile and intensively cultivated. National Capital Region development is concerned with the development of NCR region in terms of socio-economic and environmental promotion programmes through judicious use of natural resources and balanced regional growth.
