Abstract

In the time period when “Urbanization” is increasing world-wide, one of the important countries of Asia, “India” cannot be escaped from its impacts. It is becoming challenging in “tier I” and “tier II” type cities. Indore is considered in “tier II” type of metropolitan city of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the leading cities of the state from the point of view of education, hospitality, commercial and industrial sectors. Due to continuous increase in its population from last decades, the outer limit of the city has been increased in almost every decade, because the city demands more land to live. This is the leading reason behind the change in agricultural and vacant land-use type. The study is completely based on secondary data in which area under agriculture and vacant land in recent years has been calculated with the use of Google Earth Pro Software. It has been attempting to know the percentage change in the area under agriculture and vacant land in the years- 2012 and 2022. Some of the suggestions have been given to control the change under agricultural land use.
