Demography stability, aging and migration: A study of honda census town in Goa

Study of population’s future and composition are based on various factors such as birth rates, death rates, migration patterns and aging trends (United Nations. 2022). This study focuses on the demographic structure of Honda Census Town (CT). The study is important for researchers, government planners and institutions to make better decisions. The study uses different data sources including Field work based survey responses, Census data, Panchayat data towards creating bar graphs, line graphs, etc. for the analysis. The study finds that a large majority of households (90.83%) want to continue living in Honda CT showing strong social and emotional ties to the area. Others plan to move out, mostly for better job opportunities or to live with family outside the state. This indicates a relatively stable population with low chances of mass migration. Life expectancy in Honda is high, with many residents living into their 70s and 80s. The average life expectancy is calculated as 74.25 years. This means the older age group will make up a large portion of the population in the future. With fewer young people and more older adults, there could be pressure on the future working population. The study also looks at the work preferences of young males and females. More males prefer jobs outside the state, while females slightly prefer working within the state. This is mostly because of family responsibilities and safety concerns. Cultural expectations also influence these choices. The findings align with global trends showing that women often prefer local jobs due to social responsibilities. A line graph shows that Honda’s population has been declining since 2001, and the decline is statistically significant based on t-test results. Overall, the study highlights that the population of Honda Census Town will steadily increase and show important trends that will affect the future population and planning needs of Honda CT, especially in terms of aging, employment, and migration.
