Abstract

The growth and development of Neoseiulus longispinosus on Tetranychus urticae were studied in summer, autumn, winter and spring seasons. The autumn season proved to be good for egg period, pre-oviposition, oviposition and post-oviposition period as these were observed shortest in this season. The shortest female and male longevity was also obtained during autumn. The total life cycle was completed in 7.89 days in autumn season, as compared to others. Thus, the autumn season (25–28°C temperature and 60–75% RH) proved to be best for its growth and development under laboratory conditions. We can use this predator as a biocontrol agent against T. urticae in the autumn season for better results.
