Performance of Taramira genotypes under rainfed situations as influenced by weather parameters

Abstract

Taramira is an important oilseed crop of drier regions of north-western India. The four taramira cultivars viz. RTM 2002, RTM 314, T 27 and TMLC 2 were sown under the randomized block design in four replications during rabi 2014–15 to 2016–17. Maximum number of days to attain the physiological maturity and heat units were taken by the cultivar TMLC 2 followed by RTM 2002 during 2015–16. The lesser number of days to attain maturity and lower grain yield were recorded during the 201516 as compared to the other years. The crop completed its heat unit requirement earlier due to high temperatures during 2015–16. This may be due to the higher temperature and less rainfall during this year as compared to the other years. The polynomial regression relationships of different cultivars with weather parameters during different years showed that the taramira cultivars showed reduction in maturity period after rise in maximum and minimum temperature above 23.9 and 8.5oC. The correlation of grain yield with days to flowering and maturity were found to be positive which means the more crop duration increases the grain yield of crop. The days taken by crop to flowering and maturity and also grain yield were negatively correlated with temperature and positively with rainfall.
