Microclimate and spectral characteristics of maize-wheat crop rotation under different tillage systems, planting methods and nitrogen application timings

Abstract

The effect of time of nitrogen application on microclimate and spectral characteristics in maize-wheat crop rotation was evaluated in relation to different tillage systems and planting methods. In maize, canopy temperature at silking stage was significantly lower under zero till bed planting method than conventional till bed planting. Maize and wheat grain yield were positively correlated with PARI and NDVI at silking (R2=0.40 and R2=0.31) and booting (R2=0.36 and R2=0.73) stages, respectively. At reproductive stage, canopy temperature showed negative correlation with grain yield in both crops.
