Farmers' perception about agricultural extension service delivery in regions 3 and 5, Guyana (South America)

This study investigated farmers' perception about Agricultural Extension Services Delivery in Regions 3&5 Guyana (South America). Data were collected from 200 farmers and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency counts, percentages and standard deviation. The fndings indicated that (26.5%) and (46.5%) of farmers were visited once a month and once every two months respectively. Results also showed that farmers perceived training, demonstrations and printed materials to be effective extension methods. The study further revealed that more than 50% of the farmers in regions 3&5 perceived frequency of visit by extension Officers as the major constraint to be addressed to improve Agricultural Extension Service Delivery. The study recommended using extension methods which were perceived as effective. The study also suggested the need for government support in terms of increasing the number of extension workers in the study area and for enhanced mobility of extension workers in of road areas.
