The present study was undertaken to compare organic and conventionally grown Basmati rice for functional and antioxidant properties. Two cultivars (Punjab Basmati 386 and Pusa Basmati 1121) raised under both organic and conventional farming were milled and their parameters like physical, physicochemical, functional, mineral composition and antioxidantproperties were studied. Significant differences under two environments were observed in respect of physicochemical, functional properties, mineral composition, and antioxidantproperties. Conventionally grown rice showed higher cooking time, protein and color value than its counterpart organically grown rice varieties. Rice obtained from organic farming showed higher antioxidant and mineral composition than the conventionally grown rice. Similarly, reducing power and total phenolic count of organic rice showed higher range than conventional rice.
