The residues of clothianidin from soil were extracted and cleaned up by QuEChERS approach and analyzed by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The dissipation and persistence of clothianidin in soil was studied following soil drenching of clothianidin at two different dosages i.e. 125 and 250 g a.i. ha−1. Average initial deposits of clothianidin in soil were found to be 1.35 and 2.56 mg kg−1, respectively, at recommended and double the recommended dose. The limit of quantification of clothianidin was worked out to be 0.01 mg kg−1 for soil. The residues could not be detected after 90 days following the application of clothianidin at lower and higher dosages. Half-life (t1/2) of clothianidin on soil was observed to be 15.18 days for both the dosages.
