The importance of forages and livestock sector is being increasingly realized in recent times due to their multifaceted role in sustainable production, employment generation, drought proofing, natural resource conservation, nutritional security and export potential. This paper provides a brief review of the prevailing issues in forage and livestock sector and strategies required to meet the challenges so as to give some insights to researchers, farmers and planners in this sector.
