In this study, a total sample of 90 young adult males in the age group of 25–40 years belonging to low (LIG), middle (MIG) and high (HIG) income groups were randomly selected from industrial area of Ludhiana city. The data on background information, anthropometric and blood profile of the subjects were collected. The results depicted a moderate active lifestyle of LIG and sedentary active lifestyle of MIG and HIG subjects. The classification of body mass index (BMI) showed a higher percentage (83%) of LIG subjects having normal BMI as compared to HIG (63%) and MIG (60%) subjects. The mean values of total cholesterol were observed insignificantly higher in HIG (188.32mg/dl) as compared to MIG (185.46 mg/dl) and LIG (176.02mg/dl) subjects. The physical activity level of the subjects was inversely associated with risk factors of cardio-vascular diseases (CVD). The subjects of MIG and HIG were found to have high risk factors of CVD as compared to those subjects of LIG.
