Abstract

The present study was conducted to examine the disposal pattern of crop biomass and the marketing efficiency of biomass markets in Punjab. It was found that the biomass passes through various marketing channels to reach the ultimate consumer in Punjab. The producers in the selected markets disposed off the wheat straw through four channels and where the farmer sold the wheat straw on the farm itself was most efficient. The results showed that paddy husk market was more efficient as compared to paddy straw and cotton stick markets. The inter commodity marketing efficiency indicated that wheat straw markets were more efficient than paddy straw and cotton sticks markets. It was noticed that the biomass production was more profitable in the case of wheat straw as compared to paddy straw and cotton sticks.
