Abstract

The cuttings of rootstock ‘Kainth’ (Pyrus pashia hamilton) were grafted with semisoft pear (Pyrus communis L. X Pyrus pyrifolia Burm F.) cultivar ‘Punjab Beauty’ using different concentrations of IBA. The stenting (grafting on cuttings) was done at weekly interval starting from mid Januray to 1st week of February. The experiment was conducted with two factors viz. time of stenting (2nd week of January, 3rd week of January, 4th week of January and 1st week of february) and different iba (indole-3-butyric acid) concentrations (0 ppm, 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm and 2000 ppm) in three replications. Although the success was below normal, but the plants propagated after third week of January using higher doses of IBA exhibited positive results of propagation of pear using this technique.
