Abstract

The effect of feed rate and peripheral speed on power requirement, threshing efficiency, cleaning efficiency, grain damage and losses of a spike tooth cylinder type multi-crop thresher on mungbean were studied. Three feed rates of 6.0, 7.1 and 8.3q/h and four peripheral speeds of 17.3, 18.5, 20.1 and 21.6 m/s were selected. The straw grain ratio was 1.8:1. The best performance was observed for a feed rate of 7.1q/h and peripheral speed of 20.1 m/s at which the threshing efficiency, cleaning efficiency, grain damage and total grain losses were obtained as 100%, 98.34%, 0.45% and 0.48% respectively.
