Abstract

The study conducted during 2003–04 on status of postharvest operations followed by the kinnow growers of Punjab revealed that 90 per cent of the kinnow orchards were on lease in one or the other form. All growers follow manual picking, dry clean the fruits, pack fruits in pallis (jute sheets) for local market, and use wooden boxes for distant markets. The fruits are graded manually on the basis of size. Only 2 per cent of total Kinnow produced in Punjab was waxed during that period.
