Effect of temperature and relative humidity on the development of Guava anthracnose

Abstract

Anthracnose of guava caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides developed more rapidly on unripe and ripe fruits at a temperature of 30°C. The disease development was slow and less at 15° and 35°C. The size of the lesions increased markedly with increase in temperature and maximum at 30°C. Highest sporulation occurred at 25°C followed by 30°C. Likewise, size of lesions and sporulation also increased with increase in relative humidity levels and it was the maximum at 90 per cent relative humidity.
