Abstract

A semi-analytical one-dimensional solute transport model was developed by Singh (1989). The model is semi-discrete and yield continuous in time solutions. This gives significant computational advantage over the existing ones, especially for long term predictions. The model has been validated for movements of pH and soluble Ca + Mg content in soil profile with respect to time for different irrigation treatments of fresh(canal) and poor quality groundwater. The difference between observed and computed values was non-significant.
