Abstract

The investigations on the induced variability of economic traits were carried out in two varieties of okra namely Pusa Sawani and Punjab-7. The mutagenic effect of different doses of gamma rays, EMS and their combination were tested. The treatment 20 Kr + 0.4% (γ-rays + EMS) was found best for first flowering, first picking, fruit length, number of fruits per plant, total yield, marketable yield and virus incidence. Punjab-7 was significantly superior than Pusa Sawani for fruit length, number of fruits per plant, total yield, marketable yield and virus incidence.
