The comparative effect of hydrothermal and photoperiodic regimes on the different growth parameters of African sarson (B. carinata) was studied during the rabi seasons of 1999–2000 & 2000–2001. Among the different growth parameters CGR decreased with delay in sowing from October to December. Irrigation at 60 CPE gave highest value among irrigation schedules. The RGR, NAR, LWR showed similar trend as in CGR, i.e. decreased with delay in sowing from first to fourth date of sowing. Among irrigation schedules I2 treatment with 60 CPE irrigation gave the highest value. LAR and SLA showed reverse trend i.e. increased with delay in sowing from October to December. In these two parameters I1 treatment (control) showed highest value as compared to other irrigation treatments.
