Abstract

The present investigation was undertaken to study the prevalence and mortality pattern in broilers at selected farms. The prevalence of omphalitis was maximum (0.14%) followed by CRD (0.66%), aflatoxicosis (0.41%), colibacillosis (0.39%), IBH (0.29%), coccidiosis (0.16%), aspergillosis (0.14%), HPS (0.14%), gangrenous dermatitis (0.11%), rickets (0.10%), IBD (0.08%) and gout (0.06%). Maximum mortality was recorded in 1–2 weeks age groups and minimum in 6–7 weeks old birds. Aflatoxins were detected in the suspected feed samples. Various managemental problems were responsible for higher disease incidence at the farms. Based on these, various corrective measures were suggested. After adoption of proper managemental practices, a decreased disease incidence was observed in the subsequent flocks.
