To reduce the post harvest handling losses and to maintain good quality of cauliflower for a longer period a 5-ply CFB box of out side dimensions 57.5cm X 3 i.5cm X 25.4cm was designed. The box was tested for its mechanical strength in compression, puncture resistance and against impact during the simulated transportation study under laboratory conditions. The effect of package on weight loss, colour change and the appearance of the cauliflower in comparison with conventional package was observed. The recorded data was statistically analysed and a significant difference was observed in cauliflower quality when packed in CFB boxes over the cauliflower packed in jute bags. Caul flower packed in designed CFB boxes showed an improvement of 3 days in the post harvest handling period in comparison with the cauliflower handled in the jute bags thus making it possible to handle and market cauliflower in distant markets within the country and abroad.
