Comparison of Various Sunflower Planting Methods in Punjab

Abstract

Sunflower is being sown over an area of more than one lakh hectares in Punjab. Ridge planting as well as flat planting is being practised. Different planting methods like kera, pora, broadcasting, drilling and dibbling have been reported to be used to sow this crop. Few manufacturers have also manufactured sunflower planter on the line recommend by PAU. A survey in this regard has been carried out to find out the performance of different planting methods for sunflower planting. A performance index has also been devised to compare performance of these methods.
